Chita de Alcobaça is a printed cotton fabric that originated in India. It was brought to Portugal in the 15th century and became very popular in the following centuries in decorative pieces and clothing all over Europe. The reason for the name “Chitas de Alcobaça” is still a mystery today. Chintz is characterized by its colourful patterns, wide or thin stripes and floral, animal, human or cornucopia motifs.
Available in cotton and satin fabric and in cotton and satin fabric laminated on top. Purses that are laminated on top are waterproof on the inside.
